Occupational Orientation of „Disadvantaged" Youths. The Relevance of the Social Background in the German Transition SystemThis article focuses on the question of the relevance of social background for occupational orientation in the German transition system („Übergangssystem"). Based on the panel study „The change in vocational orientations of pupils in the transition system" (school year 2011 / 12), the authors demonstrate that aspects of the pupils' social background, such as their parents' education and vocational qualifications as well as their employment status, influence the process of career choice.
